Sebastian Vettel is to race a brand new Red Bull chassis from the Singapore Grand Prix as he seeks to return to the top step of the podium for the first time in 2014.

The German has only made two trips to the podium this season - to collect third place at the Malaysian and Canadian grands prix - while team-mate Daniel Ricciardo has topped the field on three occasions, and Red Bull is prepared to explore every avenue in search of a reason for Vettel's downturn.

Although he has changed chassis already this season, it was not for an entirely new machine, and the four-time world champion is looking forward to the clean start.

"It was always the plan to have a new [chassis] at some point in the season," Vettel confirmed "Obviously, we have been going a little bit back and forth as we had the problem in Bahrain and China - which turned out not to be a chassis problem but a set-up problem. This is the first opportunity we have had to have a new chassis and that's why we've gone for it now."

The German also revealed that he is hoping for a change of luck from the new car based on its chassis number.

"It's chassis number five and I like number five, so I hope [it will be good]," he said, "I just hope I don't finish fifth!"
