Kevin Magnussen has praised Ron Dennis' "winning spirit" as he tries to return McLaren to the front of the grid.

Dennis returned as CEO at McLaren ahead of the 2014 season, and immediately promised that the team "will win again" after a poor 2013. However, while this season has been tough, Magnussen - who finished second in the Australian Grand Prix - says he and Dennis get on well and he admires what he has achieved in the past.

"I think it's a good relationship," Magnussen told during an exclusive interview. "He's not a guy that I hang out with in my free time, I don't think that's necessary. We're both here to create results and I think having him back in the lead at McLaren is brilliant. It adds a lot of experience and winning spirit to the team."

Asked if his father - Jan, who also drove for Dennis - had given him any advice, Magnussen replied: "No, not really.

"I've heard many stories and my dad has worked with Ron in the past. I know what my dad has explained and talked about in his Formula One career so obviously I had an idea about what Ron is like before I joined McLaren, but I've only heard in my mind good things. He just wants to win and he does everything necessary to win which is, for me, admirable."
