Monisha Kaltenborn says this season is an unfair one in which to judge Sauber's drivers Esteban Gutierrez and Adrian Sutil.

Both drivers have yet to score in 2014, with an uncompetitive car - which was overweight at the start of the season - making opportunities hard to come by. However, both drivers have made a number of errors, with Gutierrez crashing out of a top ten position in Monaco, and Kaltenborn says the car's performance needs to be taken in to account before criticising individuals.

"For me it's more important that before we assess our drivers we have to look at the overall package and the performance, and I'm not happy with the performance, I cannot be happy with that," Kaltenborn told Crash.net exclusively. "That has many different reasons; it's been definitely the chassis, it's been on the powertrain side - that whole package working together - and then of course different I will say members in the team have made mistakes as well.

"I wouldn't like to say that it's on the one side the drivers or the team because we are a team together. So sometimes it's been more on the personnel side in Switzerland being where we've made mistakes, sometimes a driver has made mistakes, but that's part of it. So I don't feel that this year we're in a position to fairly assess how a drivers have done because we would have to first consider the entire performance, all the other aspects, and I'm not happy with that."

However, Kaltenborn is not yet willing to confirm the future of either driver, with Gutierrez out of contract at the end of the season and Sutil yet to be officially retained as well.

Asked as to the likelihood of an unchanged line-up next year, Kaltenborn replied: "I will not make any comments on the driver line-up, we will announce that hopefully in this season."

I don't think anyone is judging the drivers at Sauber.
They are judging you Monisha.
