Sebastian Vettel has confirmed that Red Bull has blocked him from joining Ferrari early enough to test in Abu Dhabi next month.

The final race of the season is followed by a two-day test which could have seen Vettel make his Ferrari debut. However, Vettel confirmed ahead of the United States Grand Prix weekend that he would not be able to drive for another team in Abu Dhabi, with Red Bull having blocked his early release.

"Well first of all I'm looking forward to the race here," Vettel said. "The race weekend here and to enjoy those last races I will have with the team. Obviously we've experienced a lot in the last couple of years so I think it will be a very special moment coming up in Abu Dhabi for our last race.

"Yes, obviously I'm not allowed to do the test for any team after the race in Abu Dhabi, but right now it's not really my focus. I think there are reasons for that which you can understand what they are."

Asked if he had expected anything different from the team, Vettel replied: "Not really."

With his move to Ferrari yet to be officially confirmed, Vettel said there was no particular reason preventing him from announcing his future at this stage.

"No, not really [a specific reason]. I think at this stage we still have to wait and I hope very soon I can give you some news."
