Felipe Massa says "a perfect job" has been done on the resurfacing of Interlagos but admits the track surface for the Brazilian Grand Prix is too new.

The circuit was resurfaced ahead of this year's grand prix, leading Pirelli to change its original tyre choice of medium and hard compounds to soft and medium. After an encouraging day with both Williams cars in the top six in FP2, Massa said he had been getting used to the new surface and was pleased with the progress.

"I think it was a good day for us," Massa said. "We were just understanding how the balance is for this new asphalt. The asphalt has a lot of grip to be honest and you don't feel any bumps. I think it was really a perfect job but maybe it was a little bit too new."

And Massa believes the soft tyre will work better as the weekend goes on, giving Williams more pace on the option compound.

"It was very dirty and very hot so this was not working perfectly for the soft tyres, but for sure with the temperature going down and with more grip on the track it will definitely not be a problem for the weekend."
