Force India team principal Vijay Mallya insists he has a contract with Sergio Perez for 2015, despite Perez claiming negotiations are ongoing.

On Thursday in Brazil, Perez said he was surprised it was taking so long to finalise his contract with Force India for next season and that "nothing is confirmed yet". However, Mallya said a deal is already done to retain Perez and insists the negotiations are regarding a potential extension beyond the end of 2015.

"I have a two-year contract with Sergio," Mallya told the Press Association. "I exercised the option and it is all over, so as far as I'm concerned it's job done.

"But we are talking about one additional year, and therefore is the whole point of negotiation. Simple and straightforward. The possibility came of extending Checo's contract for 2016 as well, and that is what is under negotiation."

Mallya's comments are in contradiction with Perez's take on events, who said on Thursday that he wanted to know his plans for next year within the next two weeks.

"It is getting close to the end of the year and I want to finalise this," Perez said. "I want to know if I am staying or not by the next race. It is getting pretty close to that."
