Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton says his spin in the Brazilian Grand Prix did cost him the win, but that he has nobody to blame but himself.

Hamilton finished right behind eventual winner and team-mate Nico Rosberg, but looked like he might jump the German in the second stops.

Hamilton posted the fastest lap of the race at that point, but then spun the lap after, just before he was due to box, losing around seven seconds.

"I think ultimately it did cost me the win," said Hamilton at the finish. "I was much quicker up until that point and then on that lap I had gone a second quicker. I thought I was going to pit at the end of that lap so I had used up everything in the tyres and on the next lap I had nothing left.

"I made a mistake and locked the rears into Turn 4 and without the rotation it just spun me around - the second time it has happened this weekend. It was nobody's fault but mine."

"I literally just took too much [out of the tyres]," he added. "When they told me to push I was under the impression I had only one lap to do so I used all the tyres that I had left, that I had saved.

"When they told me to go by I kept pushing but the rears were grained, the rears were dead, and I just lost a little bit of the grip. Up until then it was looking great."

Hamilton now sees his championship lead cut to 17 points, with the Abu Dhabi double points season finale to come.

"It was an amazing race. I had a great time, obviously I had that big mistake in the mid-part, but otherwise the car was fantastic. The team did an amazing job and it was a great race with Nico. He drove really well - a great weekend - and ultimately we got a one-two," Hamilton continued.

"I was really pushing right to the chequered flag, which is what motor racing is all about. I really enjoyed it."

"Overall I am really happy. I came back and I clearly had a lot more pace than Nico and I know that he would have seen that by the way I closed down the seven seconds. But he did a good job to not make any mistakes while I was there so I am looking forward to the next race."

"That's no good for the haters though, is it. Says no-one to blame but himself, explains why he fell off and the whole hammertime thing, but oh no, the haters just hear what they want to hear..".......[\blockquote]

and the luvvers do not want to hear the truth!

I'm not a luvver, just hate the haters and the way Hamilton is lambasted on this site by the same four or five posters. Love how they're noisy when he loses, but quiet as mice when he proved what a good driver he is

Taipan: Nice of Lulu to blame his team for his spin, so very Lulu.

"Hey man you told me to push so I pushed and fell off, so it's your fault man"
