Felipe Massa believes Williams has a good chance to get ahead of Lewis Hamilton if he feels the pressure of the title being on the line in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Hamilton starts second behind team-mate Nico Rosberg at Yas Marina, and will be guaranteed the title if he finishes in the top two. However, Williams looks the team's closest threat - starting third and fourth - and Massa failed to improve on his final flying lap in Q3 when it looked possible to beat Hamilton's time.

Asked if he could have beaten Hamilton to P2, Massa replied: "Yeah I think so.

"He's there, whatever start he does; maybe he doesn't do a fantastic starts and maybe we can be there. Maybe he is also feeling a little bit of pressure, which is not a surprise looking at what has happened to him every time he was fighting for the championship. So we'll see, if it's possible to be there we will try."

Explaining why his own final lap was not as good as his first run, Massa said a warm-up issue when stuck behind Rosberg was to blame.

"Actually I had a problem on the out lap because I was behind Rosberg and he was a lot slower than what I was doing before, so I really couldn't warm up my front tyres in the right way. I got to corner five, I locked completely the front and I lost maybe more than 0.15s by doing that, and then I did the same lap time.

"So the lap time would have been better, we had everything for a good possibility to be third in a good way today. But I'm so happy with the car, so happy with the balance and everything but it just didn't work so well on the last try."
