Felipe Massa says the way Williams finished 2014 has left him hopeful of a title challenge next season.

Williams had the second quickest car for much of this year, but poor results at the start of the season ensured the team was limited to third place in the constructors' championship behind Mercedes and Red Bull. However, Massa - who took pole position in Austria - followed his first podium of the year in Monza with strong performances and another top three finish in his home grand prix at Interlagos.

Having finished the season challenging Lewis Hamilton for victory in Abu Dhabi, Massa said the upturn in form in the closing races encourage him that a title challenge could be possible in 2015.

"The year did not start the way I would have liked but we finished with a super-competitive car," Massa told Globo Esporte. "I was happy with the second phase of the championship.

"I'm super excited for next year. I think we can have a better year with a more competitive car and fight for victories, the championship. That's all I want. I already fought for the victory in the last race of this year. I hope this is the beginning of a 2015 full of wins and that we can get to Interlagos and Abu Dhabi with a chance of fighting for the championship."
