Kimi Raikkonen says Ferrari is "working well" and has "produced a very nice car", although he remained cautious following the opening day of testing in Barcelona.

Raikkonen finished day one at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in second place, his best lap a 1 minute 25.167 seconds - just 0.156s off Pastor Maldonado. However, while Maldonado used the soft compound tyres, Raikkonen was on the slower mediums.

"It's not that different from Jerez, we don't know about the fuel other cars had, and some of them were on soft tyres," Raikkonen pointed out.

"We keep doing our stuff, have made our plan and try to follow it. The car is a completely different story from last year's, we've still got a long way ahead of us but the team is working well and has produced a very nice car".

Ferrari technical director James Allison was similarly guarded and added that he hopes they can do more than 74 laps on Friday.

"Overall we are content with the day, happy because the work we've been doing in learning how the car responds to set-up changes was very satisfactory.

"We were less happy though with the laps count for the day. I hope that in the remaining days we get some more mileage under our belt," he confirmed.
