for day two [1pm] times.
Daniel Ricciardo has topped the second morning of F1 pre-season testing at the Circuit de Catalunya despite his Red Bull suffering more technical issues early on.
The Australian stopped on track a few minutes into the session, but made it back out shortly afterwards again and went on to focus on a series of pit simulations initially.
Eventually he clocked his first lap time of the day mid-way through the morning, proceeding completing 59 laps and improving the benchmark to a 1min 24.574secs as the flag fell for the lunchtime break.
Already faster than Pastor Maldonado's top time from Thursday, Ricciardo was a mere 0.010secs faster than Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari, while Force India's Sergio Perez – who led the timesheets for much of the morning – joined them in a 1min 24secs bracket in third place.
Though he is still suffering the after-effects of having a trapped nerve in his neck, Nico Rosberg was nonetheless the busiest driver on track as he completed 63 laps and posted the fourth best time in the W06.
Fernando Alonso is currently fifth best in the McLaren, managing 28 laps despite the team's suggestion it could only complete limited running with the Spaniard today following problems with the MGU-K seal on its power unit yesterday.
Felipe Massa returned to the Williams cockpit to complete 47 laps so far, ahead of Sauber's Marcus Ericsson and Jolyon Palmer, the GP2 Series champion getting a run out with Lotus and completing 31 laps after earlier technical issues.
Testing continues this afternoon.
