In the absence of its 2015 specification car, Force India and Sergio Perez spent its second day of Formula 1 pre-season action focusing on the latest generation Pirelli tyres instead.

The Mexican got an earlier-than-expected call up to drive the VJM07 on the first day of testing but with a full day in the 2014 machine he set to work on evaluating the 2015 Pirelli tyres instead.

Enjoying a trouble-free day and completing 121 laps en route to the fourth fastest time, Perez insists the test was productive despite not getting out in the VJM08 as yet.

"On a personal level, these days have also been valuable to get to know my new race and performance engineers: we made good progress and I am looking forward to even more when working on the simulator this coming week."

Mercedes test driver Pascal Wehrlein will return to the cockpit on Saturday before Perez's team-mate Nico Hulkenberg takes over on the fourth and final day.
