Max Verstappen says the feeling with Toro Rosso STR10 is "definitely there" and he thinks he is improving "all the time".

Verstappen was back behind the wheel for his second day of running on Saturday in Barcelona, the F1 2015 rookie finishing the day in P2, on a 1 minute 24.739 seconds, 0.391s off the pace setting Lotus of Pastor Maldonado.

"Yeah, can't complain," he told reporters, including, at the end of running. "I think we had a really positive day.

"The feeling with the car is definitely there. We went onto the supersoft and we did a good lap. I am improving all the time and we could run easily and do our whole run plan. We did some long runs today [too] and that is also very useful for me before we go to Melbourne. I am learning every lap.

"So, it was a very positive day today."

Verstappen ended up doing 130 laps in total, although he did stop out on track at the end: "It was not really a problem," he insisted. "We just stopped to be sure nothing was damaged - that was just to be cautious. The team told me to stop."

Quizzed on his impressions of the new Renault powerunit, he noted: "Yeah for me it feels good. It is definitely an improvement [over last year's]. We are working on it of course. We try to improve it all the time and everybody is doing that. We are still not running full power [either] - nobody is. I think the biggest updates will come next week. We just have to wait."

So where does he think Toro Rosso stands in the order?

"That is a bit difficult to say, but you can see Mercedes is strong. Ferrari looks not so bad, I have to say. However, you don't know what they are doing. You only focus on yourself really.

"Next week we will see more," he added. "The plan now is to speak to the engineers and try and work for next week."
