Barcelona F1 Test (1): Ferrari 'quite satisfied', says Vettel

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel says the “most important thing at the moment is that the SF15-T continues to run without any big problems.”
Sebastian Vettel says the Scuderia continues to be “quite satisfied” with how it is developing its 2015 F1 car, the SF15-T.

Vettel was back in action for Ferrari on Saturday, taking over from team-mate Kimi Raikkonen, as testing moved into its third day at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the German ending up posting the fifth best time - a 1 minute 26.407s lap - and doing 105 laps in total.

“A little bit,” he told reporters, including Crash.net, when asked if the car is improving. “You have to go day-by-day. It is difficult to say though, as today was quite cold and maybe not as good as the days before, although then again it is the same for everyone. We could do more laps than expected, however, because it didn't rain so much.

“But the most important thing is the car continues to run without any big problems. There are some little bits here and there, but it is about really understanding the car and making the right adjustments for the final test and hopefully for Melbourne as well. All in all we continued to be quite satisfied.”

“We didn't change much on the car. We worked on reliability and we continued to do a lot of laps. In terms of performance, this test is about trying to continue to understand the car and continue putting mileage on it and find the problems,” he added.

Vettel spun off on his out-lap this morning, when he got it wrong between turns 4 and 5, and freely admitted it was his own error.

“Well, probably I was not yet awake,” he joked. “It was very crisp this morning and quite cold and I wanted to see how cold it was and went a little bit too aggressive and simply spun. It was my mistake and then it was up to me to try and help the team as much as I can by taking some of the gravel out of the car.”
