Kevin Magnussen will return to the cockpit of a McLaren during the third and final F1 pre-season test at the Circuit de Catalunya in place of the recuperating Fernando Alonso.

Alonso has now left hospital following a three night stay in the wake of his crash at the weekend, with McLaren confirming he will not drive the MP4-30 during the final test ahead of the 2015 Australian Grand Prix F1 opener in Melbourne.

As such, McLaren has called up its former race driver Magnussen to assume testing duties alongside Jenson Button in Spain, though it has so far only confirmed that Button will be in the car on the Thursday.
