Kimi Raikkonen is seeking improvements from his Ferrari SF15-T after the first day of the final Formula 1 pre-season test in Barcelona.

The Italian team had been bugged by reliability problems throughout the day but the Finnish driver is confident Ferrari can iron out those issues in time for the season-opener in Melbourne next month.

Raikkonen set a fastest time of 1.26.327s to finish the day P6, completing 80 laps in total on the soft, medium and hard Pirelli tyre compounds.

"We learned something today, even with a few issues which I am sure we can fix," Raikkonen said. "The car is not too bad overall, but there are some areas where we want to improve, especially when it get tricky with the conditions that we are experiencing and cause the tyres not working the same way from one lap to another.

"Now we have another day of testing to put together what we have learned. In a few days in Melbourne we will find out where we really are."

The former World champion used the day to focus on race set-up as well as practicing pit-stops and race starts.

Technical director of Ferrari James Allison says the team's day was seriously hampered by the reliability problems and is hopeful tomorrow they can fix it to provide Sebastian Vettel with a full day of running.

"This wasn't an easy day for us as we spent time chasing our tails on an annoying reliability problems," Allison said. "By the end of the day we managed to put to bed, but that interrupted our programmes for the day quite considerably. Now we can put what we learn today in place for tomorrow so to have a day much more like we want to have."

Vettel will takeover in the SF15-T on Friday before Raikkonen gets his final day of testing before the opening round of the 2015 Formula 1 season in Australia.

Ferrari will still be behind Mercedes, Williams and Redbull next year.. Yes they made changes to the team but any change will not be instant success. In pre season test in 2014, Kimi looks good, but what happened, Alonso scored twice as many points than him.
