Daniil Kvyat has complained there are still problems Red Bull need to fix before he is ready to race, after he was unable to complete a full programme on his final day of pre-season testing in Barcelona.

Following two full days in the car, Kvyat's next experience of the RB11 will be in at Albert Park as he brought his winter test period to an early end.

However, Kvyat feels the Red Bull's Renault power unit isn't performing to its optimum and still needs to be improved.

"We had a few little issues and not as many laps as we wanted but we will still have to take the positives out of them," Kvyat said. "Hopefully we'll get the right set-up with Daniel in the next two days. We need to sort out a few issues before then. In the end these are tests and we are always trying to improve every area.

"We are working on chassis and from my side I am always trying to do my best to make the car go faster in corners. As a driver there isn't much more I can do in the straights because they are the business of someone else. We are working on further steps with Renault and hopefully we will get there in the end."

An unsatisfactory day for the team, Kvyat posted the second-lowest number of laps - ahead only of Force India with the new VJM08 -, and ended the session P8 with a best lap of 1m 26.965s. The Russian says his day was hampered as the team needed to fix sensors, meaning he couldn't complete a full programme.

"We had some sensor problems which stopped us running for a while, but it was a quick fix. Small problems are annoying because they stop you from running but we still got important laps today."

Kvyat will now hand over to team-mate Daniel Ricciardo for the final two days of testing and remains hopeful that he and the team can find the solutions before the season-opener in Melbourne.

"There is always room for improvement and we are looking for a step forward because we want to be faster," Kvyat said. "The competition level seems to be very high but we will keep our heads up, put the positives together and get the most out of our package.

"Today was my last day in the car before Melbourne and I'm happy with the levels I reached with my group of guys, we are heading quite ready for Melbourne and try to do our best there.

"I'm happy with the level we reached, we have a good understanding and we know what direction what want to go in. We know where we want to be in time for Melbourne and we know what to do, which is the most important thing."
