Valtteri Bottas has praised the Williams FW37's reliability after topping the timesheets on the final day of the last pre-season Formula 1 test in Barcelona.

The Williams driver notched up a hot lap of 1m 23.063s midway through the fourth day of the third pre-season test, the Finn completoing 89 laps, whilst working on performance and aerodynamic tests.

Indeed, Bottas was delighted with the pace and durability of his Williams car - which completed 384 laps collectively over the four day test - and is confident he will have a competitive car at the season-opener in Melborune.

"It was a really good day and a great way to finish the test. One of the main points we have learnt is that the FW37 is very reliable," Bottas said. "The car we are taking to Melbourne is very competitive and should make for an interesting start to the season."

Reflecting on the whole of pre-season testing Bottas has left the Circuit de Catalunya content with the team's work and effort throughout the winter.

"We have made the most out of our time testing and I need to say a really big thanks to the team, not only trackside but also everyone back at the factory as they have produced a really quick and reliable car."

The Finn also believes the car is ready for the first race of the 2015 Formula 1 season and has the capability to contest against strong favourites Mercedes, who both use the same Mercedes PU106B Hybrid power unit.

Chief test and support engineer Rod Nelson added: "Today's programme was similar to yesterday, as we try to get the drivers in the best position before heading to Australia. Due to this the focus was more on performance with a mixture of long and short runs rather than just reliability work.

"Both drivers have worked extremely hard throughout the test and the entire team have worked very well together. We are really looking forward to Melbourne."

Williams will now head back to its British factory to work over the data its has collected before packing up and flying to Melbourne for the opening Formula 1 race on the 13-15 March.
