Roberto Merhi has been announced as Manor F1's second driver just two days ahead of the 2015 Formula 1 season opener, the Australian Grand Prix.

The revived team, which missed the final three rounds of the 2014 season under the Marussia guise after falling into administration, is set to make its return in Melbourne after bringing a pair of updated 2014-specification cars.

Having already announced Will Stevens as its first driver, Manor has now confirmed his former Formula Renault 3.5 counterpart Merhi will fill the second seat alongside him at Albert Park.

Though it will mark Merhi's F1 race debut, the Spaniard participated in a handful of FP1 sessions during race weekends last year after being signed as Caterham's reserve driver.

It isn't clear whether Merhi's acquisition is a full-time one since he was only confirmed as staying in the FR3.5 series - where he finished third overall in 2014 - with Pons Racing only last week.

Manor's updated F1 car is yet to break cover publicaly, though it is anticipated it will be replaced by a 2015 model from the European rounds onwards.
