Lewis Hamilton says he is on the verge of confirming a new F1 contract with Mercedes, but maintains he is in no rush to sign it off just yet.

The defending champion's deal with Mercedes concludes at the end of the 2015 season and an apparent hesitance to put pen to paper on an extended contract has raised speculation he may be considering an alternative.

However, the man himself says he is not looking elsewhere and is merely taking his time on confirming an extension.

"There are still points to be agreed upon," he said. "It's back and forth. There are no real issues. Over the past week I've not really been doing too much contract reading.

"I don't really feel particularly rushed. We've agreed we want to stay together, and I've the rest of the year if I want to take that. We'll get it done at some stage."
