Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg says his pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix is just "one small step in the right direction".

Rosberg needs to take the victory really this weekend to start making inroads into Lewis Hamilton's 27-point championship lead and he convincingly beat his team-mate in the top-ten shootout, with both of his laps faster. In the end the German was 0.267s up.

Speaking after, Rosberg admitted it was important to stop Hamilton from getting his fifth pole position in succession.
