McLaren has confirmed Jenson Button will sit out qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix after suffering technical issues during final free practice.

The MP4-30 ground to a halt with just six minutes of the session remaining, with McLaren and Honda reporting a suspected ERS problem.

Coming after Fernando Alonso's McLaren underwent an engine change overnight, Button will now be forced to sit out qualifying, though it isn't clear as yet whether he will be taking a penalty.
