Nico Hulkenberg believes Force India can expect good results in the Belgian Grand Prix based on the improvements made to the VJM08.
Though the B-specification car endured a disappointing Hungarian Grand Prix after both Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg experienced component failures over the course of the weekend, the updated chassis is expected to be well suited to the characteristics of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
Indeed, Le Mans 24 Hours winner Hulkenberg says Force India can expect to be competitive in Spa and is keen to start the second half of the 2015 season strongly.
“We go there hoping to bounce back from a tough race in Hungary,” he said. “The improvements we've made to the car will really help us in Spa, especially through the high-speed corners. The engine also plays a big part around the lap. We are competitive and I am confident we can start the second part of the season strongly.”
“The summer break was very relaxing for me. My schedule has been extra busy this year so it was nice to stay at home for a few weeks and just switch off and relax. Even though it's only been a month since the last race, you miss being in the car and the buzz of racing, so I'm definitely ready to begin the second half of the season.”
Force India has an excellent record at Spa-Francorchamps, famously claiming a second place finish in 2009 with Giancarlo Fisichella in a race he very almost won from pole position. Force India has scored in each Belgian Grand Prix thereafter, claiming further top five finishes in 2010 and 2012.
