Lewis Hamilton is set to see his lead in the Formula 1 World Championship standings after being forced to retire from the Singapore Grand Prix with mechanical problems.

The defending champion was running fourth when he reported a loss of power on lap 23 and swiftly began to slip down the order as he began lapping 14secs adrift.

However, though Mercedes attempted to get the car up to speed again from pit wall, it admitted defeat on lap 32, with Hamilton forced into his first DNF since the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix.

Despite this, his 53 point advantage coming into the race means he will still retain a relatively healthy lead over either Nico Rosberg or Sebastian Vettel.

With 25 laps remaining, Vettel leads Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen, with Rosberg now fourth, albeit well adrift of the top three.
