Toto Wolff says Lewis Hamilton fully deserves to win the 2015 Formula 1 World Championship as he prepares for his first 'match point' at the United States Grand Prix.

Whereas last year's title head-to-head between himself and Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg went down to the final round - in part helped by the double points format of the finale -, Hamilton needs just nine more points than Sebastian Vettel in Texas to put the title out of reach.

With Rosberg also now just two points from being eliminated, Hamilton's nine wins out of 15 races in 2015 has put him on a good course to potentially surpass his 11 wins of 2014 with four rounds this year to go.

Indeed, with Hamilton the cusp, though Vettel and Rosberg are refusing to discount himself entirely, Wolff says the Englishman's at times dominant prowess this season shows he is full deserving his third career title.

"He was incredibly dominant in Russia. He has real momentum and for sure deserves to win yet another title. Then finally he has the same amount of titles as Niki [Lauda] so that's good for the balance within the team."

Lauda went on to say Hamilton is driving 'perfectly' in 2015, his success in this era of Mercedes dominance having seen him make rapid progress up the all-time F1 lists.

"He's doing a perfect job, nothing more to say. Here he won the race in Russia, in the lead of the championship and no complaints whatsoever."
