Daniel Ricciardo says he is looking at the positive points of running qualifying for the United States Grand Prix and the race on the same day.
Torrential rain forced the postponement of qualifying to Sunday morning for the Circuit of the Americas event, marking the first time an entire qualifying session and the race has been run on the same day since the 2010 Japanese Grand Prix.
Happy to have simply gotten some track action in FP3 despite the terrible weather, Red Bull Racing driver Ricciardo says having both crucial sessions in close proximity will be enjoyable.
“Sunday is going to be busy -- I always find on Sunday you wait around a lot for the race and tomorrow there won't be waiting around this time as we go straight from qualifying into the race and I'm looking forward to that.”
Reflecting on the car's pace in the wet, Ricciardo thinks FP3 – where he was could be very representative of how
“I think we learned a bit in Fp3. The track conditions were quite like they are going to be on Sunday. Tyre pressures and stuff like this are very critical in the rain so I think we're in a good place for.”
