F1 Mexican Grand Prix: Raikkonen to start towards back after gearbox change

Ferrari changes the gearbox on Kimi Raikkonen's car before the Finn fails to qualify higher than 15th for the Mexican Grand Prix.
Kimi Raikkonen will start towards the back of the Mexican Grand Prix grid after a gearbox change after FP3 was followed by an early exit in qualifying.

The Finn's Ferrari stopped on track mid-way through FP3, forcing the team into a race against time to get him out for qualifying as it fitted a new gearbox.

Leaving him with a five-place grid penalty prior to qualifying, Raikkonen then suffered a spin during Q2 after reporting brake problems. Ending his session early, he was placed 15th on the timesheets but the penalty will demote him further.

The penalty is a blow to his hopes of securing fourth in the drivers' standings, the former champion currently embroiled in a fight with Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa. With three races remaining, the trio are split by 14 points.
