F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: ‘Struggling’ Hamilton shrugs off Rosberg momentum

Lewis Hamilton dismisses losing out to Nico Rosberg in qualifying once again but admits he is struggling with the Mercedes this weekend.
Lewis Hamilton says he is unconcerned to miss out on pole position in the final round of the his title-winning 2015 Formula 1 World Championship season in Abu Dhabi, admitting changes to the car have 'disadvantaged' him this weekend.

A sixth consecutive pole position for Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg means Hamilton hasn't prevailed in qualifying since September's Italian Grand Prix, though he will end the season with a tally of 12 poles to Rosberg's seven.

With this in mind, Hamilton says statistics like that don't matter in the context of the title win he sealed in October, even if he admits Rosberg was on fine form when it mattered this evening.

“It doesn't really matter what that number is at the end of the day. What matters is the wins and obviously the championship. But I am happy and have enjoyed it. The last six Nico has done a great job. [There are] areas to improve the car for me on my side, but I am sure we will get there.”

Indeed, Hamilton – who recently suggested changes to his Mercedes since Singapore have worked against him – says he attempted to make his own alterations this weekend but they haven't worked.

“I am just struggling a bit on the edge with the car. It was a lot more comfortable at the beginning of the year for me. Coming into this weekend, I tried to make some changes. I disadvantaged myself a little bit maybe with one of the things I took off the car but I have tried to get around it. At the end of the day I can live with it.”
