Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost says he is not expecting any upgrades this season from Ferrari.
Toro Rosso switches back to Ferrari power units for 2016, albeit a year-old version of the Scuderia's V6 turbo, and as such Tost believes the engine will remain unchanged for the entire season.
“I don't know [if we will get any updates]. If Ferrari comes up with some new upgrades, I am more than happy, but I think they will be concentrating on developing their engine, the 2016 engine, and I don't think they want to spend time on the 2015 engine,” he said.
“At least, this is what I think I know… it will be a positive surprise if they come up and say 'we have a new upgrade' but I will not argue against it!”
Asked if Toro Rosso might be able to switch to the 2016-spec engine at some point this year, Tost confirmed that isn't something that will be possible as it would mean the team would need to build a new chassis.
“[Switching to the 2016 engine] is not taken into consideration because it needs a completely new car and this is a question of time and money,” he confirmed.
“Toro Rosso is not in a situation to come up with so many upgrades and build two new cars in one season.”
