Vandoorne scores podium on Super Formula debut

Stoffel Vandoorne clinches a podium on his Super Formula debut, well ahead of his fellow European racers.
McLaren reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne has marked his first appearance in the Super Formula Championship with an impressive run to the podium.

Driving for the Honda-engined Docomo Dandelion team, Vandoorne started from fourth position but would gain a place to finish behind only experienced Japanese racers Naoki Yamamoto and Yuji Kunimoto, 13secs off the lead.

Vandoorne is racing full-time in the series this year alongside his commitments with McLaren, the Belgian having made his F1 debut last month in Bahrain and managing to score a point with a tenth place finish.
