Lewis Hamilton has consolidated his status as the richest sportsman in the United Kingdom as he raced into The Sunday Times' overall Rich List for the first time.

The three-time F1 world champion had already established himself as Britain's wealthiest currently competing sportsman, but his lucrative three-season deal with Mercedes - signed last year - has spurred him to new heights for 2016.

In all, Hamilton amassed a fortune of ?106 million, consolidating his positions at the top of the British sportsperson table, but also lifting him into the top 1000 ranking for the first time, coming in at 931.
