Esteban Ocon has revealed that he will occupy one of the two Renault F1 entries in opening practice at the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend.

The Frenchman, who won back to back FIA Euro F3 and GP3 titles in 2014 and '15, announced his impending Renault debut as the Russian Grand Prix drew to a close on Sunday, with Kevin Magnussen coming home seventh overall to claim the team's first points following its return to the top flight.

The Barcelona outing won't be Ocon's first on an F1 weekend, having taken part in Friday practice at the 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for Lotus. He has also appeared in post-race testing at the Circuit de Catalunya with Force India and turns out for Renault with the approval of world champion Mercedes, who snapped up his services prior to the Frenchman's successful annexation of the GP3 title.

Ocon, a former Renault prot?g? currently competing for Mercedes in the DTM, was confirmed as being 'on loan' to the regie ahead of the 2016 season, but had to wait for his first Friday morning appearance as the team rushed Sergey Sirotkin into action in Sochi last weekend. The Russian, who was subsequently confirmed as part of Renault's development squad alongside his GP2 programme, posted the 13th-fastest time of the FP1 session, putting him five places and 0.8secs ahead of team-mate Jolyon Palmer.
