Red Bull can “at least” be on par with Ferrari by summer - Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo: At the moment Ferrari and Mercedes are still ahead of us, but we certainly are a lot closer
Daniel Ricciardo reckons Red Bull Racing can “at least” be on par with Ferrari before F1's summer break.

Red Bull Racing didn't get much chance to shine in the Russian Grand Prix last weekend, after Daniil Kvyat - now demoted to Toro Rosso - ran into Sebastian Vettel at the start, who in turn went into the other RB12 of Ricciardo.

However, the previous race in China was far more positive, with Kvyat coming home third, and Ricciardo fourth, despite losing time whilst leading with a puncture.

“We are getting closer, we certainly are getting closer,” Ricciardo said. “At the moment Ferrari and Mercedes are still ahead of us, but we certainly are a lot closer.

"It is nice, I feel that the chassis is better for one, but obviously we look at the speed traps and we are chunk closer than we were last year [there too].

“We have got improvements from both sides, so that is really encouraging. The chassis naturally gets better as the season goes on, and with updates coming on the power unit side [for Canada] hopefully these two things keep going up in the same direction, and then I think we can genuinely at least be on Ferrari pace before the summer break,” he confirmed.
