F1 Spanish GP: Alex Lynn to get Williams test outing

GP2 title contender Alex Lynn will get a day in the Williams FW38 during next week's post-Spanish Grand Prix.
Alex Lynn has confirmed he will get his first run in the Williams FW38 during the post-Spanish Grand Prix test next week.

The 22 year-old, who also kicks off his second season in the GP2 Series this weekend, will be Williams' nominated 'young driver' for one of the two days around the Circuit de Catalunya, marking his first outing in an F1 car since the same test last year.

A former GP3 Series champion, Lynn joined Williams at the start of the 2015 F1 season in a development driver role and has declared his intentions to use the 2016 season to prove he is worthy of a full-time F1 drive next year.

“I know if I can get a good start to my season it might put a bit of pressure on the powers that be. They know I want to be there, and I've made no bones to the team that I want to be racing that car next year and that what I'm here to do is show them I'm the guy that they want, the guy that they need.”

Lynn, who starts the 2016 GP2 season as one of the title favourites after winning two races in his 2015 rookie campaign, will race once more with the DAMS team.

This could be his best chance to gain a seat for next year... I expect Williams will expect him to win the GP2 title before they put him in a seat and that is not going to be easy. Much better to impress with his performance in the F1 car.
