F1 Spanish GP: Vandoorne back in McLaren for Barcelona test

Stoffel Vandoorne and Jenson Button will share McLaren driving duties during the two-day Circuit de Catalunya test after the Spanish Grand Prix.
Stoffel Vandoorne will return to the cockpit of the McLaren MP4-31 during testing at the Circuit de Catalunya, which will take place in the days after the Spanish Grand Prix.

The reigning GP2 Series champion, who made an unexpected F1 debut with McLaren at the Bahrain Grand Prix in place of the injured Fernando Alonso, will be back in the car for one of the two days in Barcelona, with Jenson Button assuming duties on another day.

It will be the first time he has driven the Honda-powered machine since finishing tenth in that event last month.

It will be interesting to see how he matches Button, I'm surmising this is to put pressure on Button to up his game and if he can't then Vandoorne is a cert for the drive next season. Personally I believe Button is past his best, years of driving rubbish cars has eroded his confidence and he is just cruising round and taking the money, also Alonso is the main man they don't need Button anymore they need someone quick and with a future who can push Alonso, I don't believe Button for all his talent can do that anymore on a regular basis.
