Antonio Fuoco says Ferrari rewards its academy drivers who achieve their targets and after his test outing in the SF16-H is keen to impress this season to pursue his F1 dream.
The Italian driver, who currently competes in the GP3 Series for Trident, says he enjoyed a productive test with Ferrari at Circuit de Catalunya having notched up 118 laps with a best time of 1m 24.720s to place him fifth on the timesheet.
Having also test for Ferrari last year in Austria Fuoco is targeting future outings but it relies on meeting performance targets in GP3.
“It was really a good day; I enjoyed it quite a lot, it was really fun for me,” Fuoco said. “We did a really good job with the team, and we finished our program. So I am really happy. And I think the day was good for me and also for the team, so I am really happy about it.
“We tried something on the balance with the car. Yesterday Seb did some tests, so we want to be sure everything is fine, so we did again the same tests and everything worked really well. So it is really good.
“In the Ferrari Driver Academy we have to do a really good job in our championship and then if we do a really good job then we have the possibility to go into F1. So we have to do a good job in our championship and then we can think about the next step.”
