F1 Austrian Grand Prix: ‘No friction’ between Verstappen, Ricciardo

Max Verstappen is enjoying his time at Red Bull Racing so far, particularly the working relationship with Daniel Ricciardo.
Max Verstappen says he has established a good working relationship with Red Bull Racing team-mate in the time he has been with the squad.

Verstappen was promoted to Red Bull from Toro Rosso ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix in May, famously clinching victory in his debut race with the team at the age of 18.

Though the youngster is said to have endured a fairly fractious relationship with his previous team-mate Carlos Sainz after more than one on-track altercation, Verstappen says he is enjoying working alongside Ricciardo to better improve the RB12.

“Daniel is very straightforward, I am as well. At the end we want to improve the car. And then you have to work together as a team. That is exactly what we are doing, working together, and there is definitely no friction.

With Verstappen having signed a long-term deal with Red Bull and Ricciardo said to have penned a contract until the end of 2018, the Dutchman is confident the pair can forge forward together.

“We are enjoying our time. We are both contracted to Red Bull for a long time, so we make the best of it.”
