F1 British GP: Vettel suffers second straight gearbox penalty

Sebastian Vettel is handed a five-place grid penalty for the second race in succession after his Ferrari suffers another gearbox failure.
Sebastian Vettel will be handed a five-place grid penalty for the second race in succession after suffering another gearbox problem on his Ferrari ahead of the British Grand Prix.

The German slowed suddenly in the middle of a fast lap towards the end of third free practice, Vettel coming onto the radio to report the gearbox had broken.

Coming only a week after a gearbox change forced him to start the Austrian Grand Prix down in ninth position – before a tyre failure put him out of the race -, Vettel will be handed the same penalty at Silverstone to hamper his hopes of getting on terms with Mercedes this weekend.
