Lewis Hamilton is expected to take a grid penalty for exceeding his number of engine components at the Belgian Grand Prix.
The F1 championship leader will get confirmation on Thursday (25th August) and if Hamilton does suffer a required engine change he will be given at least a 20-place grid penalty.
Hamilton endured a series of engine failures earlier in the campaign which somewhat hampered his charge as his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg stormed to four consecutive wins at the start of 2016.
The Belgian Grand Prix marks the resumption of the F1 season after the summer break and Hamilton holds a 19 point lead having tuned around a 43 point deficit since the Spanish Grand Prix in May.
According to the team, it is still working through what requirements are needed for Spa and which potential penalties, if any, are likely to be applied.

Despite the British driver's lead in the F1 title race, Hamilton hasn't been comfortable after admitting he may need to take a potential two engine changes before the end of the year.
If Hamilton avoids needing to change engine at Spa he will almost certainly take the penalty and engine switch next weekend at Monza for the Italian Grand Prix.

Hamilton has already used his maximum of five parts of two elements in the turbo hybrid engine regulations, the turbocharger and MGU-H (electric motor). Each driver is handed a 10-placed gird penalty for each extra component they use, so if Hamilton picks an extra turbo and MGU-H for Spa he will start from towards the back of the grid due to a 20-place grid penalty with only 22 cars on the grid.
Hamilton has used three units each of the internal combustion engine, MGU-K (kinetic motor), battery and electronics.
A decision will be confirmed on Thursday ahead of the opening free practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix on Friday.
