Nico Rosberg says his sole goal is to right the wrongs from last year's United States Grand Prix where he ultimately conceded the F1 world championship to Lewis Hamilton as he aims to make a decisive step towards the 2016 title.

The Mercedes driver is currently in a tremendous run of form with four wins from the past five races, plus three pole positions in that time, and heads to the Circuit of the Americas with a 33 point lead over Hamilton with four rounds remaining.

Austin holds frustrating memories for the German driver having finished runner-up to Hamilton in the previous two United States GP, and last year he slipped off the track in damp conditions while leading the British driver which handed Hamilton the win and with it the 2015 world championship.

Aiming to reverse the result for 2016, Rosberg is targeting a tenth win of the year to move closer to the F1 title and hopes for dry weather after the heavy rain derailed his charge 12 months ago.

"Last year this race obviously didn't work out so great for me, so I'm looking forward to getting back out there and doing my best to get it right this time," Rosberg said. "Hopefully we won't have the same weather as last year - that was pretty crazy. Mostly I hope it stays dry for the fans: they were amazing waiting out in the rain last time, so they're owed a nice dry weekend."

After Mercedes wrapped up the F1 world constructors' title in Japan thanks to Rosberg's win and Hamilton's third place, the championship leader has been enjoying the celebrations at the team's UK base before turning his focus towards Austin this weekend.

"It was a great week, heading back to the UK with the Constructors' Championship in the bag and celebrating with all our colleagues at Brackley and Brixworth," he said. "They've worked so hard and really deserve this moment. It's job done in that battle for this year but I know they're already focused on 2017."
