F1 US GP: Hamilton finding his way as memories flood back

Much has changed since Lewis Hamiton waltzed to title glory in Austin twelve months ago, but the defending champion remains upbeat.

Though Lewiis Hamilton find himself in a very different position than twelve months ago when he was crowned champion at the Circuit of the Americas, the Mercedes driver was staying upbeat as this year's pivotal event got underway.

Winning the title in Texas with three races to go on a very stormy weekend in 2015, Hamilton comes into this year's race chasing down a 33 point margin to team-mate Nico Rosberg and knowing he cannot afford anything less than a win.

Despite the pressure, Hamilton cut a confident figure after practice despite trailing Rosberg and Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo in FP2.

When and Where can I watch the United States Grand Prix?

“This circuit remains special for me as I won my third World Championship here last year. It's great to see so many fans enjoying F1 in the US and coming out to show their support. On track it's been a great day for reliability and getting our programme done.

“Given the wet weather conditions here last year and the lack of reference points for each tyre compound Nico and I had to cover as much ground as possible to help with our understanding. We've still got to go away and analyse the data overnight to make sure we're ready for P3 and qualifying tomorrow.”
