ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX - Qualifying results

Felipe Massa says there was some satisfaction to be had from reaching Q3 and out-qualifying his Williams team-mate ahead of his final F1 race in Abu Dhabi.

The Brazilian will make his 250th and final F1 race appearance tomorrow from tenth position on the grid ahead of Valtteri Bottas, only the fourth time this season he has out-performed the Finn.

Keen to end his F1 career on a high after an emotional Brazilian Grand Prix last time out ended with a crash, Massa says it is important for him to show he is stopping because of 'other things' rather than a lack of speed.

"It is my last qualifying so it is good to finish with a good performance. So I had quite a good qualifying. And I am happy, so my last real qualifying of my career in F1.

"It is always good to be quick so I am not stopping because of the speed; I am stopping because of other things. It is like a nice gift. I will really concentrate and get ready for the race tomorrow. Hopefully things can be even better tomorrow.

Reflecting on the emotions that will come with his lining up on the grid for the last time, Massa expects he will feel more relaxed than he did in Sao Paulo.

"I know it was the last qualifying day, but to be honest it is nothing really sad. I am happy for my decision anyway. It is a really good feeling to finish your last qualifying with a good performance.

"For sure Brazil is my home grand prix, and a home grand prix is always a lot of things to do, big expectation, so a lot of events, interviews, jobs, people around you, so definitely here it is a lot more relaxed.

"For sure I feel that it will be my last race tomorrow but it is a lot more relaxed and I am totally ready for the fight like I was in Brazil. Totally ready to finish well, hopefully we can have a good result tomorrow as well."
