F1 Abu Dhabi GP: Rosberg wants Hamilton tactic talk dropped

Nico Rosberg basks in the satisfaction of defeating Lewis Hamilton but says he would rather the matter of his race tactics was now dropped.
Nico Rosberg says he wants to move on from discussions over whether Lewis Hamilton was justified in his tactic of backing him up into rivals in his efforts to win the 2016 Formula 1 world title.

Knowing Rosberg would need to finish lower than third to change the outcome of the title fight, Hamilton attempted to slow his Mercedes team-mate down and open up an opportunity for the close following Ferraris and Red Bulls to pass.

With his efforts coming to no avail as second place for Rosberg secured him the championship, the manner of Hamilton's tactics have nonetheless drawn a mixed response, not least from his own team bosses after he disobeyed more than one team order to pick up the pace.

Prompting speculation Hamilton could be in line for a reprimand from Mercedes, Rosberg says he doesn't want the matter further and didn't want to speculate over whether he would have adopted a similar tactic in his situation.

“That's too hypothetical, so there's no point in going into that,” told BBC Radio 5 Live. “We can just drop the whole discussion. There's no point discussing this topic any more. It's done and it's in the past.”

Celebrating his title with Mercedes sponsors Petronas in Kuala Lumpur, Rosberg admits there is satisfaction to be enjoyed from defeating Hamilton after he was beaten to the 2014 and 2015 championships.

“He's one of the best in the world, one of the best ever surely, so it's incredibly intense to race him. It feels like we've been doing it forever and he's always edged me out ever so slightly, so to finally get one back was awesome.

“I've got great respect for him because he does an incredible job, he's done so well over the years and he fought to the very last metre on Sunday. That made it extremely tough on Sunday but all the more beautiful afterwards."

mrfill: Whenever a politician suggests that a subject gets dropped, it is always because they have something to hide they would prefer to keep hidden. So, why should the talk be dropped then?
Because it's over and nobody cares anymore except lulu fanboys or people who hate him. Nico won, lewis tried everything he could, it's over.

Gotta agree with him though. It's his time to celebrate, not rehash tactics from Lulu! Anyone who's vying for a championship would do the same thing to keep their championship alive....no matter what level! Let it go! Congrats to Nico and Lulu for keeping the championship close throughout the season!!
