Pictures of Manor's 2017 F1 car design go viral on social media
Images of Manor's still-born 2017 F1 car design have been released on social media.

The pictures – one originally published by Motorsport.com – show chief designer Luca Furbatto, head of aerodynamics Nikolas Tombazis and various other members of staff with the wind tunnel model.

It follows news on Friday that administrators have been unable to find a buyer for the F1 team's operating company Just Racing Services, effectively ending the team.

Should these drivers be racing in F1?...

Just Racing Services fell into administration at the start of January.

Owner Stephen Fitzpatrick – who purchased the team in 2015 – revealed at the time of the administration announcement that Manor was in talks with several investors for the 2017 season up to the end of last year. However, the loss of 10th in the constructors' standings with just one round remaining – costing it an approximate £10 million in prize money – scuppered negotiations.

That paints a very sad picture. Manor were nothing but a credit to F1 and it is these sort of teams that the FIA should be nurturing, not big comglomerates who can pay their own way tenfold and drift in and out of the sport to suit their marketing strategies.
