Qualifying Quotes - German Grand Prix

"We did an excellent job today, and I am very satisfied with the day's result.. The car felt very good and I mainly concentrated to improve my lap times. Both of our cars are now ahead of others that were often in front of us this season."

Pedro Diniz:

"The car was a little bit better than it was this morning, after a small improvement to the set-up stopped it oversteering so much. On my last run, I tried to get a tow from Villeneuve on my out lap, but he was quite slow in the stadium section. When I came to the first corner on my flying lap the brakes were a little cold as a result, so I lost the chance to go quicker."

Johnny Herbert:

"In the first practice this morning, I was just about to start my first timed lap when I had to stop with an electrical problem. Then I had a rear wing failure in the second session and went off the circuit. There was some damage to the car, and I also hurt my thumb. As a result, I was playing 'catch-up' during qualifying, and was unable to clock a good time."

"I haven't even thought about race strategy yet, but starting from 17th is going to make things tough for me. I have only got 30 minutes tomorrow morning - probably just ten laps - to get the car in some sort of race trim."

Ricardo Zonta:

"I want to say thank-you to my mechanics. They worked really hard to help me today and yesterday, and I'm sorry that I am not higher up the grid, for them as well as me. Still, we are in the race tomorrow, and a lot can happen."

Luca Badoer:

"This is a troubled weekend for me - yesterday I lost my free practice session due to an engine failure and, then, today's spin made me waste further time. As a result, we couldn't fully concentrate on set-up work, and this affected our performances during qualifying. Now we are working for the race, where we are usually better."

Jean Alesi:

"Today was a disaster for me. We lacked downforce, and it was just not possible to balance the car properly - it was understeering far too much in qualifying. We have compared everything in the set-ups, but I cannot see why I am six-tenths slower than Pedro."
