Alonso dishes out advice for Button and co

Reigning world champion, Fernando Alonso has told 'wannabe' F1 world champions like Jenson Button, Kimi Raikkonen and Juan Montoya that they need to be more dedicated if they want to take the sports top prize.

The Spaniard, who won the drivers' championship last year with Renault and who currently leads the race for this year title, following two wins and a podium in the first three events, added though that a little bit of luck helps to!

"Everyone has his own style of thinking, driving and preparing for the race and living for F1. You have to prepare yourself 365 days of the year for the sport and maybe some drivers think more about the parties or whatever,” he told British newspaper, The People.

"You also need the car and the luck to be in the right team at the right moment to be able to win the world championship. The teams and the people in F1 give you very few opportunities so you have to take everyone that comes along."

Alonso, who will join McLaren-Mercedes in 2007, after agreeing a deal with Ron Dennis' team at the end of last season, reckons that the move will motivate him to go on to bigger and better things.

"The next target for me is to win the championship again. Then the move to McLaren will give me enough drive and motivation to win it again with another team," he continued.

"At the moment, there are three or four drivers who could win the title this year. The one person I really like to beat is Michael Schumacher because it makes me feel better due to the fact that everyone knows him and what he has done."
