Anthony Davidson continued to settle into his role as a race driver at Super Aguri by continuing their testing at
Jerez, the Brit producing some encouraging times and a healthy amount of mileage.
Using the test to develop the Bridgestone tyres they will be using in next season's championship, Davidson was Super Aguri's sole representative over the three-day test and went some way to giving substance to the team's bold claims they want to be regular point scorers next season with some impressive times.
Indeed, sixth fastest on the first day gave way to a rather more modest 14th on the second test, but rose again to ninth on the third and final day, with the Brit also pumping in a total of 252 laps and almost 700 miles of running.
“This has been another positive week for the team.
Jerez is a circuit I know very well and so I was able to get of a better feel for the 2007 Bridgestone Potenza tyres this week than I did in Barcelona. We made improvements to the car all week and ended with a good balance at the end of day three so I am happy with our progress.”
Davidson will now hand over to team-mate Takuma Sato for the final test of the year, again at
Jerez, with Super Aguri looking to make further progress with their tyres ahead of the Christmas break.
“Anthony has completed a comprehensive chassis programme this week and a total of 252 laps, in what at times have been difficult weather conditions,” said the head of development Gerry Hughes.
“The week's test programme has been structured wholly around learning more about the 2007 Bridgestone Potenza tyres and the experience gained will be put to good effect when Takuma Sato joins the SAF1 team in
Jerez next week for his first F1 test since the Brazilian Grand Prix in October.”
