Rising Formula One force Spyker is set to take another step forward as it exhibits for the first time at ADIMS, the Abu Dhabi International Motorshow in the United Arab Emirates this month.

The Dutch marque, which entered motor racing's top flight earlier this year by buying out the former Midland MF1 outfit at the Italian Grand Prix, will be showcasing some of its custom-built supercars at the show - the Spyker C8 Spyder, Spyker C8 Laviolette, Spyker C12 LaTurbie and the newest addition to its burgeoning ranks, the Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris.

"These are exciting times for Spyker," affirmed Victor Muller, CEO of Spyker Cars. "After the successful launch of the Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris in Geneva last March we completed the acquisition of the Midland MF1 Racing Formula One team in September, an absolute milestone for our six-year-old company. The team is now called Spyker F1.

"The Formula One arena is an unparalleled way to both underline our commitment to racing and benefit from a massive increase in brand awareness around the globe. We expect that our road cars will also benefit from the Formula One technology we now have at our disposition in-house.

"On 30 September, we signed a three-year engine supply agreement with Ferrari for the 2007-2009 seasons and on 1 November Mike Gascoyne joined us as Spyker F1 Team's Chief Technology Officer."

Hoping the show will allow Spyker to broaden its growing appeal in the Middle East, Muller revealed the organisation has also opened a new regional office in Dubai to deal with the cars' increasing popularity.

"Spykers are much in demand in the Middle East, which is a very promising and important market," he explained. "Our first step is to create a high quality dealer network. The appointment of Al Tayer Motors as exclusive distributor for the UAE is a phenomenal partnership to build the brand on. We are also in the final stages of appointing dealers in Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. Preliminary discussions are ongoing with potential dealers in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Qatar."

"The perfection and timeless elegance of Spyker cars make them the perfect product for the car connoisseur of the UAE," concurred Saeed Al Tayer, managing director of Al Tayer Motors LLC. "As an automotive benchmark of craftsmanship, design and exclusivity it a desirable and exciting car with an unparalleled ownership experience. We are proud to represent Spyker cars in the country."

The Abu Dhabi International Motorshow will take place from 18-22 December inclusive.
