Panasonic Toyota Racing continued to make progress in the development of the new TF107, but both Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli admitted the being frustrated by the inclement conditions in southern Spain.
After his strong showing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia on Tuesday, Trulli continued to work on perfecting his set-up, but had only the middle of the day to work seriously as a damp start and wet finish cut short his efforts.
"Today went pretty well and we managed to get a lot of work done, but we had to stop a little bit early because of the rain," the Italian confirmed, "There was no point going out on a wet track, as that would have been a waste of tyres. I had a good feeling again with the car and I am optimistic about it, but it is still too early to really understand how much potential it has."
Schumacher, meanwhile, returned to the wheel of the TF107 for the first time since the car's initial shakedown runs and, after the slow start to the session, joined Trulli in working on set-up. When track conditions improved and grooved tyres could be used, the German began to try different combinations to build up his own information bank.
"We had damp conditions in the morning, so we had to wait a while before we could go out," he revealed, "After that, it was a good day and we made some good progress. We had to stop a little early because of the rain, but the car felt good again, just as it did on the first day I drove it at Paul Ricard. I must say, it seems to be a step forward, but we have to wait a little longer to see what the others are up to."
