Although Honda have confirmed Marco Andretti will not get another run in their F1 car soon as they continue to prepare for the coming season, the American teenager could reportedly drive in the United States Grand Prix practice session at
Indianapolis instead.
Although new rules stipulate that teams do not have to use a test driver in Friday practice and Honda are expected to adhere to this in order to give racers
Jenson Button and
Rubens Barrichello maximum track time, according to the
Indianapolis Star newspaper, they could yet alter their policy for the American round in favour of protégé Andretti.
Andretti has been touted as a potential star for the future following his high-profile first season in the Indy Racing League where he claimed a win at Sonoma and also a close second place in the
Indianapolis 500, a circuit he would return to if Honda do indeed give the 19-year-old the chance to impress in front of an F1 audience.
Earning two runs with Honda so far during off-season testing, although Andretti will embark on a second season in the IRL with his father, Michael's, team, it is reportedly
Formula One that he and Marco's grandfather, Mario, are generally pursuing for the future.
